Full Shadow Moon: Illuminating Darkness

All full moons essentially indicate the illumination of the emotional realm. Which sign the moon is in, plus its aspects reveal further nuances of each lunar expression. For this full moon, we are in the sign of Scorpio. This intense and deeply psychological energy signature is analogous with the underworld, shadow and transformation. So what does the shadow actually indicate? And what is the challenge to met here? Simply put, I identify the shadow as any aspect of the self which juxtaposes our fullest expression. And the challenge here, is to healthily integrate the shadow by allowing the light of our higher selves to consume its core for the sake of our fullest expression. I compartmentalize shadow work in a five way construct: presence/ detection/ reflection/ accountability/ transformation/ release. Where is our baggage? Why are we carrying it? What must happen to transform it and release it, so we can transcend gracefully beyond our own darkness? With Scorpio, the only way out is through! With shadow work, the first place I witness most people struggling is in the first step. Most people are lugging their shadow around unconsciously, unaware of its presence, because, for whatever reason; they’re not present. Please note the distinction; by presence, I do not imply piety. They can intersect, but presence can also be raw, visceral, messy. The fundamental implication though, is that presence is aware of itself. This is a must before one can really even begin the path of progress with one’s shadow. Further, Most people are in a state of reaction, when they need to be in a receptive state of response. Knowing how to face the shadow, once it’s acknowledged is an ever evolving art, but I notice it gets easier over time, to create appropriate responses to common patterns, until the higher self eventually dissolves these aspects. Shadow work doesn’t require piety, nor does it require a cinematic fetish for darkness. It requires deep, visceral emotional maturity. Are you ready? We can use this Scorpio full moon to traverse these shadowy planes of existence, mine our spiritual underground and free our souls. Scorpio after all, is the most intense sign of all; requiring not one, but three levels of incarnation to fully emerge into its fullest expression. It begins as the scorpion, evolves to the snake and reaches its height as the phoenix rising from its own ashes. So, please don’t polarize such an immense opportunity for deep growth by confusing this shadowy lunation as a pass for dark, unconscious behavior. Now is the time to acknowledge how accountable we are to each other. How much of our biology can effect another. And it wont be long before we will be able to quantify proof that our emotional state is just as responsible for our collective immunity as anything else. So now is the time to traverse and integrate these Scorpionic planes and hold each other to our highest capacity, wherever we are in our progress; because the dark ages are over. It's time to get our shadows in line so we can shine.
